First Division champions Ha Noi ACB was reportedly in contact with Da Nang's striker Gaston Merlo, who won V-League 2009 top scorer award and is likely to win it again this season. Despite the reputation gap between two clubs, what could make this deal work is the close relationship between Gaston Merlo and his Argentine fellow Ha Noi ACB headcoach Mauricio Giganti. Mauricio was the one who brought the top V-League marksman from Argentina to Vietnam, where he is now becoming one of most desired players.
Gaston Merlo, who is thought to be disappointed at Da Nang's performance in V-League 2010, could move to other club next season. However, he is likely to stay with Da Nang until the end of AFC Cup 2010 campaign.
