Vietnam NT face injury crisis before Frankfurt friendly

In preparation for the friendly match between Vietnam national team and German club Frankfurt at My Dinh Stadium on May 9, Henrique Calisto is going to select a 24-man squad but it's not gonna be an easy task for the Portuguese coach.

Players from Binh Duong and Da Nang, which are playing AFC Cup, will be excluded as Calisto revealed. It means he will have to choose some better players from the rest of V-league clubs but injuries are making things worse. Ha Noi T&T's striker Le Cong Vinh, who was relieved to know his ban had been decreased, was unlucky enough to be sidelined for 6 months due to serious injury. More familiar faces like Le Phuoc Tu, Mai Tien Thanh, Nguyen Minh Phuong were also put out of action while some healthy players such as Phan Thanh Binh and Nguyen Viet Thang are nowhere near acceptable form. Some coaches blamed the violence trend of V-League for injury problem.

As the national team 's state is going down, fans are questioning why VFF still closes the door to naturalized players, especially some who did express their wish to play for their second homeland.

  1. look at the other nations who have used naturalized players and the success they have had. Why Vietnam is stopping this I don't understand. So many good players they could utilize.

  2. Ppl believe this matter is even beyond VFF's power. Some superior organizations should be responsible for it.
Now we can only hope for a change in future.
