Le Cong Vinh shines as Hanoi FC secure 3 points

Vietnam international Le Cong Vinh scored his first goal of season and assisted the other one to help Hanoi FC edge out Dong Thap in an exciting game. After a run of poor results, Hanoi FC was looking to achieve all three points at home this afternoon but Dong Thap are never an easy opponent. Indeed Nigerian striker Felix Ajala quickly put the visitors in front at 26th minute. Hanoi FC always got stuck when pushing the ball forward and failed to find an equaliser before half-time. As the home fans started to worry, Le Cong Vinh starred with a fantastic free-kick at 61st min. It was his first goal for his new club. The home side kept attacking and was rewarded with another goal 9 minutes later. Timothy Anjembe perfectly seized a chance from Le Cong Vinh's early cross and made it 2-1 for Hanoi FC. It's also the final score of the game.

VFF want V-League back

In a shocking manner, Vietnam Football Federation has demanded VPF, the current organizer of Super League, to rename the top domestic competition back to V-League. Four days ago, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also made a request to change the name of Super League. Can this be called government interference? This happens amid the tense debate between VPF and coalition of VFF and AVG over broadcasting rights. The official name of the competition could be a key factor in the case.

VPF (Vietnam Professional Football) is a joint-stock company founded by 28 members of former V-League and First Division sides. It was recognised as the official organizer of local competitions after VFF agreed to play a less important role. Things started to get complicated when VPF denied the contract between VFF and AVG that allows the media group to own all media rights of V-League in next 20 years for a pretty low price. According to VPF, the deal is ineffective because it was signed between AVG and solely VFF, without approval of Vietnamese clubs.

Highlights: Binh Duong 3-1 Ha Noi

Merlo save a point for SHB Da Nang

In the most anticipated game of this round, SHB Da Nang hosted defending champions SLNA at Chi Lang Stadium. The home side quickly put the pressure on SLNA's defence with many created chances but Nguyen Viet Nam, SLNA keeper, had a fantastic first half to deny all the finishes of SHB Da Nang. After a scoreless half, Le Huynh Duc made a few changes to bolster the attacking force of SHB Da Nang but it was a terrible second half for his side. While Huynh Duc's changes failed to make any impact, SLNA completely controlled the midfield and created a lot of finishing chances. Their dominance was rewarded by Hughton Hector's goal at 55th minute. It was a quick counter attack as the Trinidad & Tobago international used his pace to exploit the left flank before scoring with a perfect finish. SHB wanted to pushed up but their midfielders still struggled to hold the ball. While the game was getting close to end, SHB Da Nang striker Gaston Merlo scored a priceless header from an early cross at 88th minute to save the home side from a humiliating defeat. It was the only clear chance of SHB Da Nang in the second half.

Today results:
SHB Da Nang 1-1 SLNA (Merlo -  Hector)
Binh Duong 3-1 Ha Noi (Fortune, Tang Tuan x2 - Timothy Anjembe)
Ha Noi T&T 2-1 Kien Giang (Van Quyet x2 -  Duy An)
Dong Thap 3-1 Khanh Hoa (Thanh Hien, Felix Ajala x2 - Agostinho)
