Cup champions out
Second round of National Cup saw another upset when defending champions Navibank Sai Gon was eliminated by First Division side Binh Dinh right at home soil. The hosts had a comfortable 2-0 lead after only 12 minutes but Zambian striker Signs Chibambo contributed a hattrick to help the visitors earn an eventual 4-3 victory and advanced to the quater-finals.

V-League renamed to Super League
VPF, the new organizer of Vietnamese football competitions, has announced the domestic top tier V-League will have a new name, Super League, starting from 2012. Eximbank is still the main sponsor of the competition.

Shocking cup exit for Binh Duong
Everyone expected an easy victory for Becamex Binh Duong when they hosted First Division side Lam Dong in the first round of National Cup this afternoon. However, brave visitors has fought hard to hold the star-studded team to a 2-2 draw after 90 mins. Lam Dong even had a 2-1 half-time lead before Binh Duong captain Philani equalised at 77th minute. The match went on to penalty shootouts and it was Lam Dong who held their nerve to emerge victorious. The defeat has cast doubt over Binh Duong's real strength in the upcoming season.

Lee Nguyen officially joins Vancouver Whitecaps
Former Binh Duong midfielder Lee Nguyen has finally fulfilled his with to play in MLS as he signed for Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps. The USA international still holds Vietnamese passport and doesn't leave out a comeback to V-League in future.

SHB Da Nang is reported to complete the signing of Dutch midfielder Alexander Prent and Hungarian defender Krisztian Timar. Prent last played for SC Cambuur in the second tier of Netherlands while Timar had plied his trade in England for 4 years. He played for Plymouth and Oldham Athletic in the Championship and League One respectively. The 32-year-old defender also earned 4 caps for Hungary national team.

Christopher Nguyen to play in Vietnam
According to a Vietnamese source, Christopher Nguyen, who is currently playing for Hessen Kasel in Germany, will fly to Vietnam for a trial with Ha Noi FC next week.

Vietnamese-French midfielder Johnny Nguyen has clinched a one-year contract with Ha Noi FC.
