Vietnam v Kuwait U23: Victory, a must?
Vietnam NT will start Thang Long International Cup with the game versus Kuwait U23 tomorrow afternoon. Although Henrique Calisto has made it clear that results are not important in this friendly tournament, winning against a young team with the average age of 19.7 is what AFF Cup 2008 champions could and definitely should do.
Moreover, just one year ago, Vietnam did defeat the senior team of Kuwait 1-0 right on their land. That victory virtually confirmed our readiness to challenge stronger teams outside Southeast Asia. Therefore, if not defeating some kids of Kuwait in tomorrow game, it will be not only a shame but also a big setback of quality and ambition. Victory is the only choice!

Three goals in second half sink Da Nang
AFC Cup 2010 Quarter Final Leg 1:
Al-Riffa v Da Nang: 3-0
Going into this game, Da Nang was looking for a draw but they can't hold on after half-time. Three goals, one long shot, one header from freekick and one penalty shot during injury time were enough for the Bahraini side to keep a huge advantage before entering the second next week.
For Da Nang, they were unable to attack. With only Nicolas Hernandez in front, Da Nang didn't cause any trouble for Al-Riffa. The defense was pretty poor too when Da Nang defenders made a lot of mistakes. It explains why the club conceded 44 goals/26 games in V-League 2010, a defense record that was better than only 2 teams.

'Cow field' said Calisto
In a recent interview, Vietnam head coach Henrique Calisto has called football pitches of Vietnamese clubs 'cow field' for their poor quality. He also blamed Vietnamese clubs for misusing their money such as paying billions of VND to buy just one player but not improving necessary facilities.
My Dinh Stadium is the only stadium meeting requirements in Vietnam but it has never been used for V-League games. Other stadiums are in poor state and worse comparing to ones in China and Thailand. The Portuguese tactician believed the quality of football in Vietnam can improve by 25% if the pitches are better.
